Sam Howe

Sam Howe was named Chief Marketing Officer at Time Warner Cable in July 2005.  As CMO, he is oversees the marketing functions for the entire company and its video, data, voice and wireless products, including the development and management of the company’s brand architecture, bundling and pricing strategies, national acquisition and retention campaigns, retail channels, sales training initiatives, and consumer research.  He also serves as the chair of the company’s marketing council consisting of the regional marketing heads and sits on the CTAM (Cable Television Association of Marketers) Board of Directors.

 

Howe joined Time Warner Cable in 2003 as Senior Vice President of Marketing for Voice Services, where he was responsible for the roll out and management of all marketing initiatives for the company’s VoIP service called Digital Phone. 

 

Before joining Time Warner Cable, Howe created Howe Strategic, in 2001, where he provided marketing, planning and business development consultation to companies in the media industry.  Before he started his own company, Howe was Executive Vice President of eTour Inc. and held the position of Senior Vice President of Network Sales for Turner Broadcasting, Inc. in Atlanta, GA from 1998-1999. 

 

Howe’s telephone and bundling experience was acquired in the United Kingdom from 1993-1998.  There he spent three years as Senior Vice President of TeleWest plc, a leading telecommunications company providing cable television, telephone and ISP services.  Prior to that Howe spent two years as Group Director of Marketing at SBS Cablecomms, Inc. a 50/50 partnership between Cox Communications Inc. and Southwestern Bell Inc. 

 

Previously, Howe spent nine years at Cox Communications, Inc., where he held various positions in finance and marketing.  Howe began working in the cable industry in 1982, when he joined Centel Cable, a division of Centel Corporation, as Staff Manager in Chicago, IL.  He began his career in radio, where he held positions with WEEI-AM in Boston and WBSM-AM in New Bedford, MA. 

 

He received a B.A. in History from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine in 1977 and a MBA in Marketing and Finance from Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern College in Evanston, IL in 1982. 

 

He is married to Rebecca Howe, has two teenage daughters and resides in Westport, CT.
