2010 TeleSeminar
The 2010 CTAM TeleSeminar and Cable Apprentice: “Keeping Customers from Cutting the Cord” was broadcast live on March 5th from the Comcast Media Center in Littleton, CO. The event, hosted by CTAM Rocky Mountains, was simulcast to 46 locations across the country with nearly 700 attendees.

The discussion offered a deep examination into the challenges, risks, and opportunities posed by the “cord cutting” of consumers disconnecting their cable service for broadband-only.

The two “Cable Apprentice” final teams from the University of Denver Daniels College of Business were evaluated based on their detailed presentations and Q&A sessions. Each team was critiqued on various attributes by the celebrity judges from the cable industry including Char Beales, CTAM; Sam Howe, Time Warner Cable; and Ed Huguez, Starz Entertainment. Cable industry executive Rich Cronin was the emcee for the event.

Winning Team: Vision Forward Video - Josh Davis, Devaki Jordan and MacKenzie Roebuck-Walsh emerged victorious at this year’s competition. They received $1,500 and summer internships in cable and content companies.

If you were unable to view the TeleSeminar, you may view it in its entirety here.  Please note it’s a member’s only benefit so you will be asked to enter your CTAM member login info.
Chapter News

CTAM Europe produced three marketing tracks, “Competition: Is Over the Top the Real Threat: An Operator’s View”, “Marketing Keynote: B2B, The Untapped Opportunity… Or is it?” and “Marketing Smarter: Using Resources to Gain Subscribers and ARPU NOW,” in conjunction with Cable Congress 2010 in Brussels, Belgium.

CTAM Carolinas hosted their 2nd Annual "Meet The Operator 2010”. It was an opportunity to engage the Time Warner Cable Carolinas senior executive team with questions, including one on one time in an intimate setting. The event was followed by an exciting Charlotte Bobcats basketball game.

CTAM Greater Philadelphia held their annual Membership Breakfast, which featured Charisse R. Lillie of Comcast Corporation and Comcast Foundation, who spoke on financial fitness for low income men who are largely the minority with little formal education.  Financial fitness is achieved by providing professional interview clothing, career development and financial literacy services.  The chapter collected clothing for these individuals to assist them with long-term gainful employment.

CTAM Florida hosted a Webinar of "How Cable Goes to Market I".  From the comfort of their desks, participants experienced the ultimate cable crash course covering cable history, players, revenue models, technology, new products and more!

Members in the Crowd

Carla Lewis-Long, CTAM Carolinas president juggles multiple careers as a cable television executive, entrepreneur, wife and mother.  Health issues led her to Creative Family Connections, which helped to find a wonderful surrogate to carry her baby girl Makana Elliott Long and gave her the inspiration to write her first children’s book about surrogacy.

Why I’m So Special (A book about Surrogacy) is a story for all parents who used a surrogate to share with their young children, to let them know just how special they are.  This is a story of hope, perseverance and lots of love.

The book will be available May 1st online at Authorhouse.com, barnesandnoble.com and amazon.com.

Congratulations Carla!
