IN MEMORIAM
The CTAM family mourns the loss of
Gerry Dash and Will Flannery.

Gerry
Dash, who was named a “Cable
Television Pioneer” in 2005, when he was Senior Vice President, Training
& New Business Development, RCH Cable Outsourcing Services, died of a
terminal illness on August 30 at his home in Tucson, AZ. He was 68.
Dash, whose long cable career began
with early franchising efforts and selling HBO subscriptions, worked at
many cable companies, large and small, over the years. His family said
"Mr. Cable Guy" would be a fitting epitaph.
"He was a true cable pioneer in every
sense and lived, ate and breathed cable," Michael Snyder, a former
co-worker, said. "I am only one of dozens of cable industry folks that
has Gerry to thank for his knowledge and support as a friend and
colleague."
“Gerry was a huge fan of CTAM Chapters.
He recruited colleagues to join and was contemplating a chapter in his
new Arizona home,” said CTAM’s Char Beales.
Dash is survived by his wife, Virginia;
daughter, Heather Barger and her husband, David Barger.

Will
Flannery, Vice President of
Advanced Services, Fox Cable Networks, died of a sudden illness on
September 18, at age 38.
At Fox, Flannery was responsible for
the day-to-day distribution activities of advanced television services
(including high-definition, interactivity and On Demand) for Fox's 36
programming networks. In addition, he was very active in industry
organizations including CTAM's Advanced Cable Solutions Consortium.
Angie Britt, CTAM’s Vice President of
Advanced Products said "We are shocked and saddened at the loss of Will
who led the CTAM Advanced Cable Solutions Consortium Cross-Platform
Committee. Will was one of the most positive and motivated persons I
have ever met or had the pleasure with whom to work. He was the real
deal - an authentic friend, colleague and leader. Will's contributions
to the vision and mission of the CTAM Consortium will be long
remembered. His absence will long be felt."
Flannery is survived by his wife
Kristin Torgen Flannery; daughters Sarah and Norah; parents Catherine
and Francis Terrance Flannery; brother Francis Emmett Flannery;
sister-in-law Julia Flannery and nephew Connor.
Donations to be held in trust for
Flannery's daughters may be made to the "Sarah and Norah Flannery
Scholarship Fund," c/o Ken Teshima, Teshima & Associates, 2215 West
