Chapters Wrap Up a Great Run: Watch Short Chapter Highlights from Over the Years
At the end of 2011 CTAM’s local/regional chapters will close their doors for the final time after 30 years of service to the cable industry. During CTAM in New York members had an opportunity to record a short memory or highlight from their chapter experience at our video kiosk. Guest Spotlight On Watching Generations X, Y & I
Janet Gallent, Vice President of Strategic Research, NBC Universal, and member of the CTAM Research Committee, helped develop CTAM’s latest study, which shares insights on the preferred viewing and multitasking behaviors among younger generations, the impact of social media related to television and how they’re using media across multiple devices and platforms. Chapter News
CTAM New England held its 3rd Annual Day of Learning in partnership with WICT at the Boston Museum of Science. This full-day event featured case studies, roundtable discussions and panel sessions.
CTAM Rocky Mountains hosted its 2nd annual Cable Interacts event to promote understanding of advanced video services, which featured a State of Interactive panel discussion and the first Daniels Interactive Competition, in which Daniels College of Business students presented launch plans for interactive cable applications.
CTAM West held two events:
  • Their 7th and Final Cork 'N Connect event featured an educational panel, "20/20 Vision: A Look into the Future", which discussed frontline issues facing the industry today. Following the panel, attendees enjoyed a special evening of wine tasting and a charity auction benefitting DonorsChoose.org.
  • Their 4th and Final Cable Apprentice featured competitive teams from USC and UCLA in a challenge to present the best industry related case study. Following the competition, attendees celebrated UCLA’s winning team, “Bruingenuity”, the holiday season, and said farewell to the chapter with past presidents, industry friends and colleagues.

  • CTAM Canada for their panel at the Annual CCSA Conference, featuring Fred Reichheld, founder of Bain & Company’s Loyalty Practice. Fred discussed his latest book, The Ultimate Question 2.0: How Net Promoter Companies Thrive in a Customer Driven World.
  • CTAM Caribbean for Sun, Sand and CTAM.
  • CTAM Carolinas for their panel during the NCCTA Joint Summer Meeting. Arnold Sanow spoke about “Keeping Customers for Life and Creating a WOW Customer Experience” with a focus on specific tips, tools and solutions that both cable companies and programmers can use to help with customer relations.
  • CTAM Europe for EuroSummit ’11, Europe’s only cable marketing conference. This event focused on Social TV, the Connected TV, competitive branding, customer care strategies, On Demand advertising and a host of other key topics.
  • CTAM Florida for the Florida Cable Forum. Seth Arenstein from CableFAX summed it up nicely on his blog.
  • CTAM Greater Philadelphia for Meet the Operator on the Moshushulu, where attendees heard from Comcast executives while enjoying three hours of open bar and light hors d’oeuvres.
  • CTAM Midwest for assembling a team of heavy hitters at Chicago’s U.S. Cellular Field to discuss marketing trends and effective tools used to acquire and retain customers at their popular BallTAM event.
  • CTAM New England for their 3rd Annual Day of Learning featured above in chapter news.
  • CTAM New York for their Cable Interacts event, where attendees viewed demos showcasing opportunities with interactive TV and other advanced services from 14 companies, including Time Warner Cable, Cablevision, HBO, ESPN, and YouTube. CTAM New York is also remembered for their highly successful Blue Ribbon Breakfasts over the years.
  • CTAM Rocky Mountains for their 5th Annual Cable Apprentice, which questioned the reasons behind basic sub loss. The winners, “The OnDemandos”, presented a comprehensive solution for how Comcast West Division SVP Steve Bouchard should combat this issue.
  • CTAM Southeast for SeaTAM.
  • CTAM Texas-Oklahoma for TexTAM, where panelists discussed current economic trends, multichannel video trends and how over the top delivery methods are affecting the cable industry.
  • CTAM Washington-Baltimore for their Meet the Operator Boat Cruise. Members networked with new leadership from Cox Virginia and Comcast in the Beltway Region over food and fun.
  • CTAM West for their 7th and Final Cork ‘N Connect event featured above in chapter news.
CTAM Rocky Mountains will become The Rocky Mountain Cable Association (RMCA)
The Rocky Mountain Cable Association (RMCA) will begin operations January 1, 2012 as the new Denver-based association for regional companies and individuals who work in the broader business of cable and telecommunications. The RMCA, established as a local successor to the highly successful CTAM Rocky Mountains chapter, with a mission to leverage a strong Denver cable presence.
