Traditional supplier/operator boundaries are shifting (again).

For best results, observe and adapt.

Tech trends don’t always take the form of things -- hardware, software, architecture, boxes, STUFF. Sometimes, trends slip in sideways. Like the pervasive and substantial whiff of self-made innovation, emanating from companies accustomed to relying on (and/or blueprinting for) their technology suppliers for manufacture.

Nobody wants to talk about it, and everybody’s talking about it: Technology syndication. The economics of open source. What to do, when your biggest customer is starting to look like your biggest competitor.

No answers here, other than the indefatigable standbys: Observe and adapt. Listen like your life depended on it (because it might.) Take good notes. Do the right thing. Lather, rinse, repeat.

And that ends this compilation of Tech Trends, here on the cusp of the summer of 2017. Thanks for sticking with it all the way to the end! May your tech-talk be scintillating, informed, and fun.
